      A recent study from Canada has shown that the number of hours spent watching TV between two years and four years old can have a detrimental effect on the size of a child’s waistline by the age of 10. The study, which was published in a BioMed Central journal, looked at the television habits of 1,314 children. One extra hour of TV viewing each week at age four could affect the muscle fitness of a child aged 10 and also increase the size of their waste by half a millimetre.

  • Free life insurance for children in Massachusetts

    When you think about life insurance, it’s not usually children that spring to mind immediately. But, of course, it is children that will benefit from any form of life insurance and parents need to be more aware of the importance of life insurance than anyone else.

    An insurance company in Massachusetts, USA, is currently giving away $50,000 worth of life insurance so that children whose parents work can benefit. Parents can apply for their free life insurance next week, on October 18th and 19th and two events held in New Caney and Humble.

    Parents wishing to apply need to first make an appointment via telephone, calling 281-441-3754 and speaking to the ‘Family Promise of Lake Houston’.

    Life insurance is something that all parents, especially in the UK, should be considering, if they haven’t already. There are many companies in the UK offering life insurance (sadly not for free, like this offer in the US), but when you think about how your children are to be cared for should the worst happen, it’s something you need to give some serious thought to.

    It’s a basic truth that most of us haven’t got any kind of life insurance in place, and we haven’t even considered it in any real detail. What is fairly common in countries such as the USA is less so over here, especially as we as a nation are all living longer.

    However, when you have a family, and children, to support it’s probably about time you considered life insurance. Worrying about your own mortality isn’t something anyone wants to do, but every responsible parent should be concerned for their children’s health and (more…)
